Volunteers encourage students and inspire them to reach their potential.
Education is a key factor in success, but the need for one-on-one academic support within the Springfield Public Schools is clear. The 2011dropout rate for SPS students was more than four times the state average and the four-year graduation rate was only 52.1%, compared with 83.4% statewide.
By volunteering, you can help us change those statistics. For the past four years 100% of 12th graders matched with mentors through SSV have graduated on time! Volunteers bring fresh perspectives and enthusiasm into our schools while assisting students, teachers and staff. They encourage students and inspire them to reach their potential.
Additionally, volunteers experience a sense of fulfillment and pride in helping to improve our schools for everyone in the community.
